The first remake of Golden Scissors Award™ after 23 years in 2016 was a success with 950 total attendees at Shanghai Dolly. Not forgetting the support of our sponsors such as Goldwell, Shiseido Professional, Schwarzkopf Professional, Mucota, Nature’s, Olaplex, Wayko, ActivPass, and more.
This year, GSA 2017 will be held at Shanghai Dolly on 19th September 2017, themed “The Red Party”. There are a total of seven award categories, in which four are live competitions presented on stage. An exciting hair show by GSA 2016 winners can be expected to wow the crowd.
The seven award categories are Student Hairdresser Award, Creative Hairstylist Award, Salon Best Design, Elegant Evening Hair Piece Award, Pioneer Generation (PG) Award, Fantasy Award, and Lifetime Hairdresser Award. Four of the entertainment lineup, the Creative Hairstylist Award, and Elegant Evening Hair Piece Award, Fantasy Award and Student Hairdresser Award categories will be judged live with the contestants’ models on stage.
An expected 1000 guests from the hairdressing industry will be attending and participating in GSA 2017, ranging from hair product companies, salon owners and hairstylists from various salons in Singapore. Attendees also get to witness hairdressers who will be honoured the Pioneer Generation (PG) and Lifetime Award, respectively, for their many years of contribution to the industry, and/or whom are still in the business today.
“GSA 2016 is about recognising and appreciating the effort and passion,” says Jeremy Leong, the trademark owner of the Golden Scissors Award™. “It is about creativity and innovation, about taking a stand and making an impact. Most importantly, it is about coming together as one family to make a difference in the hair industry.”

Golden Scissors Award™ started in 1983 by a group of passionate hairdressers whom aimed to bring aspiring and talented hairdressers together to showcase their crafts and learn from one and other. In 1983 at the (now defunct) Plaza Hotel was where the Golden Scissors Award™ was held. The Golden Scissors Award™ was the first in Singapore, where there was a contest that had the support and official endorsement of the Inter Coiffure de Dames (ICD). According to the former ICD Singapore President, Georgie Yam of THE Salon, without the existence of the Golden Scissors Award™ “the contest will not be recognised worldwide. We now have the right to say that the winner will represent Singapore officially.”

Hosted by H4ufme Singapore, the first and only local hair trade magazine, the comeback of Golden Scissors Award™ (GSA) in Singapore after 23 years will be held on 11th October 2016 at Shanghai Dolly, River Valley Road.
GSA 2016 is a prestigious hairdressing award ceremony to celebrate the passion of and reward those who have played a part in influencing the hair industry. Themed “Hollywood Glamour”, there will be red carpet entries for special guests with paparazzi style photography as well as exciting performances throughout the night from Shanghai Dolly, Square Bread from Cleo Hair & Make salon, and the Gold Sponsors of GSA 2016.
The eleven award categories include St dent Hairdresser for Cut, Colour and Style, Student Mannequin, Junior Hairdresser for Cut, Colour and Style, Avant Garde Hair Award, Elegant Evening Hair-Do Award, PG Hairdresser Award, Fantasy Award for the Best Salon Team Work, Lifetime Hairdresser Award, Singapore Hairdresser of the Year Award, Salon Best Design Award, and Most Active and Interactive Salon Social Media Award. Part of the entertainment lineup, the Fantasy Award category will be judged live after the catwalk presentation of the contestants’ models onstage.
An expected 800 guests from the hairdressing industry will be attending and participating in GSA 2016, ranging from hair product companies, salon owners and hairstylists from various salons such as Classic by Taiwah, Organic Hair Professional, Salon Vim, Zona Felice, NK Hairwaroks, Vinatge Studio and many more. Attendees also get to witness hairdressers who will be honoured the Pioneer Generation (PG) Award for their many years of contribution to the industry, and whom are still in the business today.
